The Valley of Flowers is found in the Chamoli district near Badrinath in Uttarakhand, about 300 km north of Rishikesh. It’s a special place because of its beautiful wildflowers and stunning mountain views. This valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is open to visitors from June to September every year.
Discovered by mountaineer Frank S. Smith in 1931, the Valley of Flowers is where the Himalayan, Zanskar, and Western and Eastern Himalayan ranges meet. It’s famous for its many different kinds of wildflowers and medicinal herbs. According to legend, it’s also the place where Hanuman found the Sanjivani herb to heal the ailing Lakshmana.
The valley is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the numerous waterfalls, streams, and meadows surrounded by Himalayan peaks.
