Situated near Navagam in Gujarat, the Sardar Sarovar Dam stands as a colossal gravity dam constructed on the River Narmada. Initiated with the aim of water conservation and environmental support, the project’s foundation was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1961, with construction commencing in 1979. Presently, the dam serves vital roles in providing drinking water to adjacent villages, facilitating irrigation, and generating hydroelectric power for the entirety of Gujarat.
