Qutub Minar, located in Delhi’s Mehrauli area, is a tall tower standing at 72.5 meters (238 feet). It’s both a minaret and a victory tower and is part of the Qutub complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction began in 1192 by Qutb Ud-Din-Aibak, the founder of the Delhi Sultanate, after his victory over the last Hindu ruler of Delhi. He laid the groundwork, and then his son-in-law, Iltutmish, took over and added three more stories. The fourth and fifth stories were later built by Firoz Shah Tuglak.
