Kufri is a small hill town near Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, about 20 kilometers away. It used to be a summer retreat for the British in 1819, and you can still see old colonial buildings there. Kufri is popular because it has nice weather in summer and gets snow in winter. Lots of tourists visit all year round, but the best time to see snow is from November to March.
Kufri is up high, at 2720 meters above sea level. It’s a starting point for some famous treks in Himachal. You can trek to Mahasu peak or visit Fagu valley. If you don’t want to walk, you can also ride a pony from the parking lot to the top.
