Jama Masjid Delhi

2 KM from city centre

The Jama Masjid in Delhi, also known as ‘Masjid-I Jahan-Numa,’ is India’s biggest mosque, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Every year, thousands of pilgrims gather here on Eid for special morning prayers. The mosque’s courtyard can hold up to twenty-five thousand people and covers an area of about 1200 square meters. It has three gateways, four towers, and two minarets that are forty meters tall. The mosque was inaugurated by Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari, an Imam from Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, non-Muslims are not allowed inside during prayer times.
