Haridwar is a really important city in India, especially for Hindus. It’s in Uttarakhand and is known as one of the seven holiest cities in the country. Haridwar is where the holy river Ganga starts flowing into the big plains of India.

The city is full of temples, ashrams (which are like religious houses), and narrow streets. Lots of people visit Haridwar to take a bath in the Ganges river, which is considered really sacred. They believe that taking a dip in a specific spot called Har Ki Pauri can wash away all their sins.
