Gorakhgad is a hill fort in Maharashtra, along with Machindragad, in Thane district. Gorakhgad sits higher than Machindragad. The fort has many water cisterns, some with drinkable water. Near the base, there are lots of caves, and some people live in them. The path up to the fort is surrounded by dense vegetation. At the top, there’s a Shiva temple and a statue of the bull ‘Nandi,’ suggesting Shiva was important to the fort.
